Ackerlund Design is a collaboration between brothers Ken and Bill Ackerlund. Through years of hands on experience in the building trades we have developed a healthy curiosity about form and function in the built environment.
Bill has Associate of Arts and Science degrees from Seattle Central Community College in Cabinetry Making and Fine Woodworking as well as in Mathematics.
Ken has degrees from The Evergreen State College - BA Liberal Arts with emphasis in history, cross cultural communication and business management - and Bellevue College - BAA Interior Design.
Bill and Ken have taught Furniture Design and Fabrication at Bellevue College in the Interior Design program. Ken is currently adjunct faculty in the program.
We spent many years in the building industry as contractors and old house enthusiasts. Our work led to a healthy passion for quality, functionality, beauty and detail in all things design. In 2006 we both returned to school for intensive study of art, design, building, and craft.
We are currently working on various original furniture design ideas, all of which will end up here on this site in one form or another: if not actually built, at least drawn and rendered.
Apart from the design and construction of original ideas, our mission is to collaborate with our clients, bringing to the creative process our deep passion for, and extensive knowledge of furniture design.
